Breweries looking for an Attorney? Merithew Law attends Great American Beer Festival:

It has been an exciting month for us. Forrest has hit the ground in Fort Collins, focusing on developing and opening a Colorado branch of our Firm. With his new locale, the Firm will have access to a number of additional trade shows and industry leaders in niche areas we practice, such as outdoor recreation and gear, and breweries, distilleries, and restaurants. When it comes to the latter, our geographic locations of Asheville, NC and Fort Collins, CO lend great resources and involvement in the industry. The Colorado branch will also continue to provide the wide range of comprehensive business services we offering to all companies and commercial endeavors, from start ups and manufacturers to established businesses and brands.

Just after he arrived in Fort Collins, Forrest headed down to Denver for the Great American Beer Festival (GABF), the preeminent and largest trade show of it’s kind for the brewing industry. At GABF Forrest was able to see the impressive continual growth in the industry, discuss and discover old and new challenges for developing breweries and brewers, catch up with current clients, and work to notify those in the West (and back East) about the resources and work our Firm provides.

Certain areas of the business of brewing still appear to be in great need of legal assistance and resources. We continue to find that brewers and breweries should use counsel for lease and other land use and contract terms, regulatory issues (whether it be initial TTB or ABC work or continuing work with respect to label and distribution requirements), and then the all important branding/intellectual property/trademark needs to protect the brand. Some of these areas, when taken on by an attorney can not only streamline the processes and, therein, decrease costs and stress for the Client, but also provide added knowledge and protections for the Client and Brand. This can inherently increase the value of a company and brand, while also making the business stronger and more protected as a whole.

The more we practice, the more we realize we enjoy working with those who have a passion for what they do, and we see this across the bar (pun intended) with brewers and breweries.
